I'm not the biggest cheerleader of the original FiSH, although, as a wise man once told me, 1000 Elvis fans can't be wrong, I gotta say that I think LeaderFiSH is definitely worth its $249 price tag.

The reason behind the low cost is that the producers who created this video thought that companies could purchase the video (which includes a great workbook) for each of their leaders...As opposed to getting everyone together and showing the film to all at one time.

Check it and other training videos out at Media Partners web site!

Is 'Good' Enough?

Yeah! As a former perfectionist, I had just begun to believe that I didn't need to be perfect. But after watching this film, I'm may reconsider.

Thankfully, my job is not one that affects life or death...but many jobs do. No one really wants to move a muscle. They'd rather sit and relax. But one person, probably fearing boredom in the others, suggests a 53-mile ride into Abilene for dinner. No one really wants to go, but all agree to go.

I have no problem with saying 'no,' but apparently that's not the case for some. People will often say 'yes' to things they don't want to do and/or even to things they disagree with because they think that's what the other person/people want from them.

So the Abilene Paradox is doing what you don't want to do -- because you think that's what others want you to do -- but others don't want to do it either -- so nobody is really happy.

Does this apply to the workplace? - It does! Think about how many things you go along with or do because you think that's what's expected of you as a member of the team. What are the businesses consequences of this acquiescence on your part? Are you being paid for passivity? to be a yes-man/woman?

More Than a Gut Feeling III

If you're in the market for a training video on the topic of interviewing and hiring skills from the perspective of the interviewer (as opposed to the interviewee), by far, the best selling video out there on the topic is More Than a Gut Feeling III. It outlines the techniques needed to conduct behavioral interviews and is straight forward and practical in its approach. To find out more, click here.

Another video recently released on this topic is Behavioral Interviewing: Taking the Guesswork out of Recruiting. - This video makes many of the same points as More Than a Gut Feeling, however, has a much more humorous tone. It is a solid, straight-forward ethics training video that covers issues ranging from insider trading to stealing office supplies...from making personal long distance calls on your work phone to keeping your promises.

This video provides training points to help employees make certain that their behavior is consistent with their values.

Everyday Creativity...by Dewitt Jones

As part of my work, I watch a lot of training videos. - In my opinion, some of the most thought-provoking and motivational are Dewitt Jones's videos: Celebrate What's Right with the World, Focus Your Vision, For the Love of It, and the one I'm discussing today, Everyday Creativity.

Everyday Creativity is not your typical training video with Points A, B, and C to memorize. (This I find refreshing!) In this video, Mr. Jones takes a more philosophical approach to the corporate buzz phrase: thinking outside the box.

How do you look at things? - Are they ordinary or are they extraordinary?

Do you see a couple of options or do you see thousands of possibilities?

To find out more about this video and how to incorporate its message into your work and personal life, click here!
